Head Trainer: Kieran Harris
Your Trusted Partner in Dog Training
Hi everyone & welcome to K9H! Firstly thanks for taking the time to look at us, what we offer & considering how we could help you with your dog's behaviour or ongoing training requirements.
I have always had a passion for dogs, their behaviour and what makes them tick. I joined the police in 2012 as a Police Officer & worked a number of roles from neighbourhood policing to response for over 7 years. As much as I enjoyed policing, it was always with a goal to join the dog section and work my own police dogs & in 2018 after many years of hard work and dedication, I was accepted onto the dog section & accredited with my first General Purpose Police Dog (Frankie). Frankie is a GSD and was trained to undertake multiple tasks including chase and detention of suspects, searching open areas and buildings, riot/crowd control, tracking/man-trailing & property detection. I worked Frankie for her whole career before she retired in 2025, then becoming my pet dog.
During my service, I also accredited with a second dog Ginni. Ginni was a fox red Labrador & was trained as a Drug & Cash crime search dog. Ginni was trained in searching for and detecting illegal substances and large quantities of cash (GBP, USD and EURO). Working both a GP and Search dog has given me an insight into how different disciplines and types of dogs work, function and behave and this experience has shaped me as a trainer and dog owner.
Always striving to understand canine behaviour more, practically handling dogs wasn't enough for me. I needed to understand the "why", not just understanding how to get from A->B. So during this time, I embarked on my theoretical qualifications and have a large number of qualifications. There are far to many to list, but a few of the main accreditations I have received:
- Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Canine Behaviour. Accredited by the Pet Education & Behaviour Council
- Level 6 (Degree) OfQual Regulated in Applied Canine Behaviour
- Puppy Course Instructor
- Level 3 Canine Learning, Motivation & Reinforcement IMDT
- Specialist in Canine Reactivity
Amongst many more CPD and other certifications from awarding bodies.
This paired with years of practical hands on experience of handling my own working dogs, but also dealing with those both dangerously out of control & animal welfare cases has given me a deep understanding of canine behaviour & what dogs need to thrive.
My ethos is simple!
1) Ensure firstly that your dog is engaged and WANTS to learn and train with their owner. This is essential to building a lasting bond, but also having a dog that doesn't see training or learning as a chore.
2) Building a predictable structure and routine, which dogs thrive off giving them all the tools and understanding to remove any confusion on their part.
3) Imprint behaviours clearly with effective communication and understanding. Ensuring your dogs FULLY understand whats being expected of them, which ensures the learning process is seamless & eliminates any risk of learned helplessness or frustration from both sides.
4) Ensure your dog's needs are being met!!! This is a big one, as often dogs have behavioural issues which stem from frustration or a build up of arousal from genetic traits. Ensuring your dog has the correct fulfilment and outlets for these genetic traits, often help to prevent these behaviours "leaking" in other aspects of their lives. This could be things such as digging, chasing prey or mouthing/biting for example.

Kim W.
Absolutely amazing trainer. made me feel welcome and truly understood how I was struggling with my Cockapoo. I thoroughly enjoyed every session and each week you are sent over the notes so you can remember it all and practice at home. I now have all the tools to work with my puppy and may even sign up for the adolescent sessions. thank you so much for everything.

We’ve just finished our 4 week training course with our reactive GSD. The course covered several areas and Kieran tailored aspects of the sessions to individual dogs where needed. Overall Kieran is unbelievably helpful and understanding of behaviours and uses his knowledge and experience to help. Now the course is finished Kieran has also passed on training tips for future scenarios that we may come across.

Excellent dog trainer!
We’ve used both the 1-2-1 sessions and the 5-week puppy class, and they’ve been fantastic. Always super helpful and full of great advice, we have learned so many useful techniques to build into our puppy’s training.
Highly recommend and will definitely be returning for future lessons, especially tracking and other sessions on offer.
